We endeavor to exploit the exponentially growing data from microbial genomic projects and other high through-put technologies to understand diversity, virulence and host-microbe interactions that is involved in disease caused by these pathogens. We also attempt to utilize genomic resources and bioinformatics tools to design diagnostic tools and novel vaccines against these microbes. As models, we focus on zoonotic pathogens such as Brucella and Salmonella.
