The biotechnology research center received a delegation from “Jerusalem Pharmaceuticals Company” headed by Mr. Iyad Masrouji (CEO), Mr. Abed Elnaser Khrawesh (Administrative Director) and included other doctors from the company, with the objectives of discussing future cooperation between the Palestine Polytechnic University’s BRC- and Jerusalem Pharmaceuticals Company.
A formal meeting between the visiting delegation and the BRC staff, in presence of Eng Ayman Sultan, (Vice President for Community Services) and Dr. Mustafa Abu Safa, (Vice President for Academic Affairs) was held in the Biotechnology meeting room. BRC director, Dr. Yaqoub Ashhab, welcomed the attendees and talked about the Center and its activities in addition to its aspirations for the future, then Dr. Rami Arafeh spoke about the plant research field and the role of the master students at the center. Dr. Rami added that the diversity of plants in Palestine and its rich medicinal value should encourage the researchers to focus their efforts to study it further, with a view to identifying new plant-derived drugs for disease treatment.
Mr. Iyad Masrouji spoke about the company and its vision, its fields of work and some aspects of the company’s strategic plan. Mr. Iyad Masrouji also spoke about other future work that it is interested to cooperate in with the BRC.
At the end of the visit Dr. Yaqoub Ashhab and Dr. Rami Arafeh led the delegation on a quick tour of the BRC labs, and agreed that their is room for collaboration and that specific visits shall be organized to better understand the needs and vision of each other, so as to take practical steps to establishing a productive and cooperation.
